About Me

Ceremonies are a collaborative effort, and they are about you and your family, not me.

However, if you are going to trust me, and work with me to create something wonderful, then you need to know a little more about me.

I’ll keep it short, and am happy to answer any questions if you want to learn more,

  • I live in Bolton with my wonderful husband (see my blog about our disaster wedding day) and cover a radius of about 50 miles.
  • I come from a large family, and over the years have experienced every sort of ceremony possible – some great, some not so great, which is why I trained as a celebrant – to provide a better ceremony than the ones I’ve sat through.
  • I did an English and Drama degree and since then I have always performed in some way, either acting, public speaking, or singing – I’m not shy.
  • I have been a teacher for many years, and I continue to tutor privately, for GCSE English – but I promise I won’t correct your spelling in anything you send me.
  • One of the things I love most of all is writing (which comes in handy for this job).
  • I relax by having friends round and cooking for them – not always successfully – my curry is dreadful!
  • I have also been known to have the odd glass or two – usually red wine, prosecco or gin.
  • My hair is unruly, curly and subject to colour change on a whim (to cover up the grey).
  • I am short and circular. If you want a tall, slim, elegant celebrant, I’m not your lady.
  • I have hundreds of books, love Shakespeare and Monty Python.
  • I would like a dog (preferably a golden retriever), but don’t yet have the life style to accommodate one.

That’s lots of “I” and “me”- and here is the only place I use those words – they have no place in anything that I write with you.
